The statement, issued Thursday, includes the City of Vancouver, the province of British Columbia, the federal government, the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, PavCo, and private partners.
The cost of the upgrades — and the games themselves — have not been revealed.
Soccer Canada said it "supports the ongoing efforts underway to secure a positive, long-term solution that keeps the Whitecaps in Vancouver."
Schuster repeatedly emphasized unity, stating there is “no you and we” between the club, ownership, and fans.
Ownership said it has held serious conversations with more than 100 parties over the past 16 months, but “to date, no viable offer has emerged that would keep the club here.”
For now, the city is doing what it has always done best: hoping, quietly, while trying not to jinx it.
On April 22, city council almost unanimously approved a motion to launch the bidding process.
