WATCH: Eby brands BC Conservatives 'chaos central' — but rules out early election

VANCOUVER — Premier David Eby has ruled out calling an early election.

During a press conference on Tuesday, he described the BC Conservatives as "chaos central" but maintained that he and his team have no desire to send British Columbians back to the polls.

"We're headed into a legislative session," Eby said. "The right continues to fracture ... We are not looking to an early election; we're looking to deliver for British Columbians."

The premier took issue with the reporter's branding of the BC Conservatives and their various existing and in-the-works offshoots as "centre-right," arguing that the parties are "extremist-right."

He went on to describe the BC Conservatives as "chaos central."

“Political parties play an important role in our democracy,” she said, “but they are vehicles for our values; they cannot become substitutes for them.”

Eby's words came less than an hour after Prince George-Valemount MLA Rosalyn Bird announced her departure from the party, the third to do so in 11 days under leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay.

“We know what we’re doing,” Findlay declared.

Earlier Tuesday, Findlay held a press conference of her own to address the aforementioned internal issues. She admitted that "there may even be others that leave our caucus."

"If they're leaving that means they do not have a vision for prosperity and hope that we're presenting for all British Columbians," she argued. "It means some where along the way they decided that they know better than us where we should be going."

Findlay reminded everyone that she was chosen by members to lead, and that their will should be honoured.
