A new slate of Vancouver city councillors has been elected.

They include COPE's Sean Orr, Chloe Leslie, Devyani Singh, and Solomon Yi-Kieran, Greens' Annette Reilly, Stephanie Smith, Camil Dumont, and Bridget Burns, OneCity's Lucy Maloney, and ABC's Mike Klassen.

Only three incumbents — Orr, Maloney, and Klassen — retained their seats.

Progressive parties dominated the contest, with COPE increasing their representation from just one to four seats, and the Greens gaining three. ABC, meanwhile, went from holding a majority to just one of the ten seats.

Orr told Sitka Media the results showed Vancouverites want the city to move in a new direction.

"I think people want integrity," he said. "It's a repudiation of these fear and division tactics. I think people want hope; I think people want a city they can believe in."

Fry emphasized his commitment to cooperation, vowing to put partisanship aside and work with whoever has the best ideas.

Orr made it clear that he and his COPE colleagues are ready to collaborate, but that it's up to Fry to lead and facilitate that.
