A 25-year veteran of the Vancouver Police Department is facing numerous charges following a lengthy investigation.

Kal Dosanjh, who is also founder and CEO of the KidsPlay Foundation, was charged with four counts of fraud and four counts of theft over $5,000, and breach of trust by a public officer.

The offences are alleged to have occurred on January 13 and December 18, 2017. A second man, Sarabjit Singh Gill, has been charged with three counts of fraud and three counts of theft over $5,000 related to the former incident.

During his tenure at the VPD, Dosanjh served in many roles, including as a beat patrol officer in the Downtown Eastside, and a detective.

A press conference has been scheduled for Friday morning so officers can provide more details.
