VANCOUVER — The BC Conservatives are "looking into" allegations a "senior party official" hired a private investigator to spy on people both in and out of the party.
The alleged official in question is former executive director Elaine Allen.
Alleged targets include former executives Angelo Isidorou, Aisha Estey, and Philip Deppenaar, journalist Rob Shaw, Lululemon founder Chip Wilson, NDP caucus Issues Management Director Matt Hannah, and Fountainhead Communications, as well as MLAs Rosalyn Bird, Brennan Day, Mandeep Dhaliwal, A'aliya Warbus, Amelia Boultbee, and Claire Rattée.
The latter released a statement Thursday confirming that she had been "formally informed" by the party the day before that "a senior party official allegedly hired a private investigator, which may concern violations of my privacy and possible other harms."

"I am deeply troubled by these allegations," Rattée added, noting that she "will not be commenting further" until she receives more information and is advised to do so by counsel.

During a press conference at the Union of BC Municipalities convention, leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay addressed the allegations.
"I don't know anything about this," she said. "I had no knowledge of it, I was unaware of it ... and they are just allegations at the moment. The party is looking into it."
